(Princeton)
Princeton University is now accepting applicants for its summer journalism program-- a 10-day seminar lead by reporters and editors from some of the top news networks and the nation’s highest circulating newspapers.
The program is offered to juniors who come from low-income households and have a minimum of a 3.5 unweighed grade point average, the application states. The combined income of custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) plus child support payments, if any, must not exceed $45,000.
Classes are taught by reporters and editors from CNN, ABC News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker and The New Republic.
Students will have the opportunity to tour newsrooms as well as write, edit and design their own newspaper to be published online. After the application process, which consists of two rounds, twenty students will be chosen for the all-expense-paid program.
Applications are due February 5, 2010. For more information and the Summer Journalism Program application, visit www.princeton.edu/sjp
