On Thursday, February 23rd Connie Rice joins KPCC-FM Reporter Frank Stoltze for a conversation about Rice's new book, Power Concedes Nothing -- One Woman's Quest for Social Justice in America, from the Courtroom to the Kill Zones.
Connie Rice, a civil rights lawyer known for tackling inequity and exclusion in unorthodox ways, is co-director and co-founder of The Advancement Project. The recipient of more than 50 major awards for her work in expanding opportunity and advancing multi-racial democracy, Ms. Rice has been instrumental in forcing change at the LAPD. She created L.A.'s gang peace academy that turns ex-gangsters into peacemakers. Ms. Rice also serves on the boards of the Public Policy Institute and Southern California Public Radio. In 2006, the Los Angeles Times designated her one of the 100 most powerful people in Los Angeles.
