An immigrant’s child

image An immigrant is a person who immigrates from their country of birth to another-- many times illegally. The person often immigrates to another country because he is running from danger or poverty. I know many immigrants who are refugees who ran from their country of birth because of the wars and discrimination they faced. The come to America believing that they will find peace, better life and financial stability.

America was founded by immigrants and if it wasnt for the immigrants that came to America, I believe America would have never been as prosperous as it is today. I think America has been a wealthy country because of the hard work immigrants do. Undocumented people work in a variety of professions, from picking apples and grapes at farms to building skycrapers in big cities.

Who else would do these jobs?

Only hard working immigrants would and unfortunately it is the only opportunities they have for a better life. If those jobs were not taken by immigrants, nobody would do them and we wouldn't have fruit in the supermarkets or buildings in our communities.

Immigrants are not only suffering with this new Arizona Immigration Law SB1070, which I find discriminating, the American children of the undocumented parents are suffering too.
The children of these undocumented individuals fear that their parents could get deported and are scared they will be left alone in the United States.

I face that fear because my mother is an immigrant and she is my sole guardian. My father is not in the United States because he got deported for commiting crimes.I find his reason for deportation to be justified, but to deport a person that is just trying to make a better living for their children and themselves is wrong and the way Arizona is doing it is discriminating.

My mother came to this country in the year of 1985 from Guatemala in search for a better life and to help the family she left behind. My mother started working hard from the first day she stepped foot on American soil. She felt like there was no time to waste and she should do whatever she can to prosper.

I think that everything my mother has worked for has been of a great help to society and to economy not only in the state of California but to the nation as a whole. There are a lot of people in Arizona just like my mother and what isn't being discussed is how the children of immigrants like myself will be impacted by this new law.
