The roots of black comedy are in Los Angeles. The audience of the open mic night is a mixture of races, not like the old days when black comics attracted only black audiences. The Downtown Comedy Club holds open mic nights every Friday and Saturday at 114 West 5th Street, Los Angeles. Karen Marcus talks with the old and new generation of black comics.
