Mayor pushes for boycott of Arizona as Angelinos protest controversial immigration law
L.A. city officials are joining the criticism of a tough new Arizona immigration law, and calling for reform. They say Los Angeles should boycott Arizona until the state stops forcing its police to check residents’ immigration status. Ariel Edwards Levy was downtown when the Mayor announced his approval of an official boycott and filed this report.
And at USC, angry students voiced their opposition towards Arizona’s new law which they say unfairly targets the Hispanic community. At a protest in the center of campus, dozens gathered – some shouting, some arguing – about the issue they say is drawing boundaries. Chris Foy reports.
