New pocket park to be developed in Watts

The Watts Times reported that a pocket park will be developed on about 5,000 square feet of city-owned land in Watts.

The park will be located at the intersection of East 115th Street and Arvella Grisby Place.

The Watts Neighborhood Council donated $25,000 in beautification grant funds for the development of the park.

The park will be named Grisby Park after South Los Angeles Community Leader Mrs. Arvella Grigsby. Grisby worked for the Westminster Neighborhood Association for 22 years. She also organized the first parents' club in the Jordan Downs housing development and was an active member of the Watts Gang Task Force.

The park is expected to be completed in Spring 2010.
