Police officials say Miguel Angel Herrera allegedly attacked his girlfriend around 9 p.m. in his apartment in the 1100 block of West 41st Place near Normandie Avenue.

Los Angeles Police Officer April Harding reported that Herrera and the woman got into a heated argument about her tardiness. Herrera then restrained the woman, punched her, cut her with a knife, and stuck her with an electrical cord. He also allegedly raped her and poured acid on her face.

Harding says that Herrera let her girlfriend drive away but then followed her in his pickup truck, a Nissan Titan with license plate number 8K55469.

The woman was able to elude Herrera's vehicle. She reported the crime and was treated at a local hospital.

Police ask that anyone with information at the incident or Herrera's whereabouts contact detectives at the LAPD's Southwest Station at (213)485-2585 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
