Pope chooses Mexican born bishop to take over L.A. diocese
On Tuesday, April 6, 2010 it was announced that Jose Gomez has been selected by the Pope to take over for Cardinal Roger Mahoney in 2011. He will be the first Hispanic leader in America's largest Catholic community. The announcement was made at the Los Angeles Cathedral, where Gomez spoke about how excited he is to move to Los Angeles. Grant Tunkel of Annenberg Radio News was there and filed this report:
