Sheriff’s Department to Use Less Deadly Force

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is trying a new policy to deal with dangerous fleeing suspects—a policy that doesn’t involve shooting at them. The department says it is addressing a problem that has long plagued deputies and led to mistrust from some members of the public. In recent years, sheriff deputies have been accused of using excessive deadly force, which led to a review of the department’s practices.
