TORNADO WARNING for South Los Angeles

image[Updated]1:50pm: The tornado warning has been lifted for Los Angeles and Orange County. The storm system is now moving north east, quickly, at 35 mph, heading towards REDLANDS and BIG BEAR LAKE.

This storm cycle includes winds of 60mph, along with thunder and lightening. Long Beach and surrounding areas along the coast are experiencing flooding, most of which is along PCH. Officials advise those in the path of the storm to STAY INDOORS, AWAY FROM WINDOWS in the lowest part of the building (ideally, a basement.) DO NOT DRIVE, especially under freeway overpasses. People outdoors are advised to duck into a ditch or depressed area. Powerful waves are breaking over the jetties in San Pedro. There has been a roof collapse in Irvine. A car has been flipped over in the strong winds.

1pm: The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the South Los Angeles area, from Compton to Huntington Beach. Although the tornado did not touch ground, the tornado warning was set in place until 1:30pm. Officials advised South LA residents to stay indoors, away from windows, and to find the lowest possible place in their homes to wait it out. Drivers were advised NOT to drive under freeway underpasses.
