Visitors enjoy art, music at Leimert Park Art Walk

Leimert Park Art Walk attendees surrounded Leimert Village Sunday, straining their necks to take a look at some of the event's dancers or gathering free art supplies to paint on already-provided easels.

The area, often known for its long history of African American culture, invited the public to share in a day of art exhibitions, food, shopping and the spoken word. But for one street vendor, the event marked more than just a day to celebrate the arts.
